Delphicomresources

Bob, I end up developing alot of COM components for ASP. There are two resources I have found that gave me the best information. One is http://www.yasdbooks.com/devaspcomp/index.htm which is a link to the Author of "Developing ASP Components" by Shelley Powers. O'Reilly & Associates; ISBN: 1565924460. There is a demo using Delphi 5 on the website that the book doesn't cover. It was THE MOST helpful of any resource... Shelley is a doll. She helped me when I was getting the old "Catastrophic Failure" from ASP. Man, my boss was buggin... CATASTROPHIC!?! hehehehe Geesh, some people get so bent out of shape... :) The second book was mentioned before by Greg Peterson. "Delphi COM Programming" by Eric Harmon (ISBN 1-57870-221-6) This one stays on my desktop. It is coffee stained and in rough shape but I found to be a valuable resource. More so than Charlie Calvert's book (Sorry Charlie... I love your book. But the other two were better suited to what I was doing :) ) I hope this helps. And if you need more info, feel free to contact me offlist. I'd be happy to share. :) Jeff Young Jeff Young -- jeff@hksi.net ICQ - 3955327 -- PGPKeyID - 0x3FCA9E95 ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ HUMANKIND SYSTEMS, INC. for your information, we have solutions http://www.humankindsystems.com ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ ********************************************************* Hi Bob, >> Charlie Calvert's book Delphi 4 Unleashed gives a lot of Delphi COM & MTS >> instruction. > > I just bought it, although I did see a review that said it does not cover > ASP and COM, but hopefully it will get me started. Thanks for the pointer. Delphi 4 Unleashed doesn't cover ASP/ASO (it wasn't introduced until Delphi 5), but it does contain (D)COM. And it has a rather good chapter on WebBroker, I'd say (but I'm biased, since I wrote it ;-). See http://www.drbob42.com/books to download the WebBroker chapter source. Also, for a review on Delphi COM Programming (which might be helpful for your quest as well), see http://www.drbob42.com/reviews/dcomprog.htm > Bob M.. Groetjes, Bob Swart (aka Dr.Bob - www.DrBob42.com) ************************************************************* and one that I found very useful with the rather windy title of "COM+ and the Battle for the Middle Tier" by Roger Sessions (ISBN 0-471-31717-9) -- Greg *************************************************************
